All Thymol-based miticides requires temperatures greater than 15 oC for maximum effect. Honey supers must be removed.
Apiguard two trays per colony are required. treatment is over a month adding the other tray after 1-2 weeks, depending upon the weather and strength of colony.

ApiBioxal is an oxalic acid-based product. It can be used in sublimation devices at any time of the year, or dissolved in syrup solution to trickle on seams of bees in late autumn.
Apistan is a synthetic pyrethroid-based varroa treatment. Two strips of Apistan are required per colony. Due to overuse some Varroa mites have developed resistance to pyrethroids.
ApiVar Active ingredient Amitraz. No temperature constraints as there are with most other varroa treatments. Supers must not be on the hives. The strips should be left in for between 6 and 10 weeks, depending on the size of the brood and the time of year. Recommended autumn treatment of 10 weeks. Apivar can be used during feeding - in fact it is recommended.
Formic Pro is a formic acid-based treatment and is the only treatment that can kill Varroa mites inside the brood cell, as the vapour penetrates the wax cappings. It only needs to be kept on the bees for 7 days, but does require supers to be removed.
